Leadership Kearney #33 commenced the day with a delightful breakfast and delicious coffee. The group convened at the Nebraska Veterans Home, where a comprehensive tour was conducted by the Chaplain serving the veterans. Group 33 was able to take a photo in the chapel which highlighted some beautiful stained glass. Following the tour, a panel discussion featured Kim Grabenstein from Angels Care Progressive, Dave Kreutzer from the Veterans Home, and RaLynn Jacobsen from the Area Agency on Aging. This discussion offered valuable insights into the patient demographics they serve within the Kearney community, along with the challenges encountered in their care.
Subsequently, participants were divided into groups to tour Kearney Regional Medical Center (KRMC). Each group engaged in discussions regarding the various service lines of KRMC and the patients they serve. During this visit, an additional panel discussion addressed the availability of human services in the Kearney area. Nikki Gausman from the Safe Center, Kelly Mast from Compass, and Margot Icenogle from CASA outlined the significant services their organizations provide to the community.
The traveling continued on to CHI Good Samaritan. Group #33 attendees enjoyed a salad lunch bar catered by CHI Good Samaritan Hospital. Additional tours were organized, allowing groups to explore three departments: Flight/EMS, the morgue, and the cath lab. After the tours, a discussion highlighted the services offered by CHI Good Samaritan. Notable presentations included Lacey Witt discussing Richard Young and mental health challenges, Abby Olson covering case management, Joe Radke addressing the hospitalist group, and our very own Dana Welsh discussing the cancer center.
The Family Advocacy Network was the next stop on the tour, where representatives shared insights into a typical day for a forensic interviewer and showcased their impressive new facility. The day concluded with a visit to Horner Lieske McBride, where Dennis Harrahill provided an engaging and enlightening account of the role of a funeral director, highlighting the various challenges associated with this profession. His passion for his work was evident and resonated with all participants.
In summary, the day was filled with rich and insightful discussions surrounding health and wellness. We extend our gratitude for this invaluable opportunity.
